The owners of the restaurant wanted a design that would bring warmth to the space and reflect its Black British Caribbean heritage. Something that would have curb appeal as people walked past its huge windows. The walls were painted in a light blue at the top and turquoise at the bottom and on the ceilings. Both paints are Dulux mixes. The colours were continued throughout the restaurant through the hallway leading the bathrooms. To add interest to the ceilings large wire cages suspended by chains were covered with foliage and bamboo pendants were threaded through. Large copper wall lights added additional ambiance. The floor was covered in hard wearing cork and reclaimed wood shelves were a practical but cool addition to the prep area which was visible to the customer. Artwork by British Caribbean Yvadney Davis was the last addition to connect the dual heritage of the restaurant and bring colour and interest to the walls.
